Should You Repair or Replace Your Water Heater?

A simple age-and-symptom decision tree so you don't pour money into a dying tank.

Water heaters usually give warning signs before they fail. Here's how we decide with our customers.

Repair if…

Under 8 years old, the tank itself isn't leaking, and the fix is a small part like a thermocouple, element, T&P valve or gas control.

Replace if…

Over 10 years old, the tank shell is rusting or leaking, or the total repair cost exceeds 50% of a new unit.

Between 8 and 10 years with a moderate repair, we lay out both options with numbers and let you choose.
